You probably have heard about voice recognition that allows you to “talk” to a computer, so that it can convert your speech into text. It has been around for more than fifty years now. Developments in voice recognition technology through the years has made it possible for a computer to recognize continuous speech, several voices and various speech patterns and even different languages.

There are three ways that voice recognition technology can meet your needs: command and control, dictation and text-to-speech capability.

In this kind of technology, your voice works as the input device. By uttering a command, you can navigate menus, toolbars and activate different applications. Likewise, you can also dictate words through a microphone and let the computer convert them into text instead of typing them through the keyboard.

Text-to-speech features in computers using voice recognition technology allow the computer to read the text that you have typed. The computer use “synthesizers” to produce sound similar to a human’s speaking voice. It then uses filters to imitate sound variations resulting from differences in the position of the tongue, shape of the lips and length of the throat, among others.

Even when this technology allows a computer to recognize human speech, digitize it into phonemes and words, “analyze” the words based from their context and synthesize speech from text, the computer does not actually understand what you say. Understanding how human speaks would refer to a field of artificial intelligence that is called natural language processing.

While it is true that speech or voice recognition technology has y gone a long way since its conception in the 1920s, it has not yet achieved one hundred percent accuracy. Even the best-known software available in the market has not provided its users a very reliable and accurate solution to typing problems.

However, continuous efforts to develop this technology are being made, and this gives hope to a large number of people using this technology–physically disabled and normal people alike. Who knows, just few years from now using the keyboard may just be a history in the world of computers.

As a kid growing up, I was fascinated with science fiction, especially those movies and TV shows that dealt with the future and portrayed how life on earth would probably be several decades down the road. I liked the idea of robot-servants who talked and followed our orders and of aerial vehicles that were the main means of transportation and that sent us speeding through the sky on our way to work. I was always fascinated with talking computers as well.

Now, over three decades have passed since I was a kid in front of the TV set and, boy, did those science fiction movies get it all wrong. There are no robots in every household nor are there cars that fly through the sky. At least they got it right in one regard – talking computers. These days, talking desktop computers are so commonplace that they hardly elicit any reaction at all from jaded consumers.

These days, it’s not even that difficult to understand how a computer talks.

They talk simply because they have a software that converts text into speech that is communicated through speakers or a headset. The technical term for this type of software is speech recognition capability.

And if you want to get really technical about it, here’s more. Speech synthesis is the process that artificially produces speech in computers. The software system is called TTS or “text to speech.” The system has a front end and a back end. The front end is where the software received the input in the form of text and converts it into linguistic symbols. The back end takes these linguistic symbols and converts them into speech waveform that is heard through the computer’s headset or speakers.

The software’s front end performs two basic functions. The first function is the identification of numbers and abbreviations in the raw text which it then spells out and assigns word equivalents. Second, it assigns sound (known as phonetic descriptions) to the different words of the text, including pauses and intonations, and then divides the text into phrases and sentences.

The back end, which is also known as the synthesizer, takes these phonetic transcriptions and converts them into actual sound output.

Speech Language Pathology is the study, diagnosis, and treatment of human communication disorders and swallowing dysfunctions. Speech pathologists, or speech therapists, assist patients who are unable to speak clearly or properly, have communication impairments such as attention, memory, and problem-solving disorders, have such speech conditions as stuttering, an inappropriate accent, or an unsuitable pitch; have problems understanding language; and they work with those who have trouble swallowing.

Speech and language conditions are normally the result of an injury, head trauma, developmental delays, injury, emotional issues, and brain conditions. Speech therapists work to prevent, diagnose, and rehabilitate a patient’s speech and language difficulties. Over the years, there have been a number of big advancements in speech language pathology. These advancements now enhance and improve a patient’s rehabilitation progression.

Technology and Communication Aids: There have been a number of technological advancements in the area of communication aids. This includes: communication software, voice amplifiers, switches, and mounting/holding devices that are used to enhance and provide an alternative method of communication. Electronic communication aids help augment or substitute verbal speech. This includes such services that synthesized or digitized speech. There are devices that help those with ALS, Autism, Stroke, Aphasia, or any other condition affecting one’s speech.

Computer Technology and Speech Pathology: Computer technology has become a regular part of recent speech and language therapy techniques. There are software programs that provide audiovisual exercises to help patients in their speech therapy sessions both in the clinic and at home. There are voice, video, sound, and text software programs. Spoken language technologies include Speech Recognition (patients communicating to computers) Speech Synthesis (computers communicating to people,) and Dialogue (computers and people communicating to each other to perform a specific task.) As well, there are speech therapy CDs designed for cognitive training for such problems as attention and memory.

Advancements in Home Speech Therapy: Technology now allows patients to practice their therapy techniques at home. There are videos and television programs that promote verbal and language interaction which helps speed up the therapy progress. As well, children now have the ability to use sing along devices which makes speech and language therapy fun.

Speech Language Pathology Research Advancements: There has been much research in the area of speech and language disorders. There are brain imaging studies that are taking place to assess brain development and how it relates to speech and language problems. There are Genetic studies that are looking into the relationship between heredity and speech problems. There are also studies on the effect of recurrent ear infections on the development of speech and language.

Advancements in speech therapy have allowed for enhanced and improved therapy for people with speech, language, learning, and cognitive impairments. Modern and cutting edge medical procedures and devices have resulted in an increase in the number of lives being saved after traumatic accidents and health conditions such as strokes. This has led to a greater demand for speech language pathologists. Speech-language pathologists can be found working in child development centers, preschools, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, government agencies, research centers, and anywhere one needs communication therapy. They are part of medical community and are highly valued for the treatment techniques they provide. With new advancements emerging everyday, the future looks bright for the field of speech language pathology.

All of these advancements have lead to significant growth in speech pathology jobs throughout the world. Also on the rise are nurse practitioner jobs and other medical positions.

In order to be able to give a great presentation, the ability to convey your ideas in an interesting, and vibrant way to your audience is key to your success. Most of the time this can be accomplished through the delivery of an eloquently given speech. More often than not, however, visual materials are needed. Drawings, and charts work rather well, but slideshows, and videos tend to make an even better impression due to their dynamic content. Adding these bits of media to a presentation is fairly simple when you have gathered in a meeting room, but not quite as easy when you are on the go. The present projectors are much too bulky to be taken to a restaurant, or used on the street in order to utilize their capabilities. Architects, real estate agents, and emergency workers have longed for a way to make the rather large, and bulky projectors much more portable. At first, technology seemed to be trudging along trying to figure out a way to get quality video from a small package. Somewhat surprisingly, 3M, a company well known for it’s adhesive products, was able to beat the other guys to the punch.

While other companies tried to make a smaller projector that was much more complicated than it should be, 3M opted to create a simple design that would work on a basic level. Many said it couldn’t be done but 3M proved the naysayers wrong. The MPro110 by 3M is the world’s first micro-projector that can project 50-inch diagonal images in a dark room and 10-inch images under bright light. The unit uses a rechargeable battery pack that takes about 1 to 2 hours to charge up, and delivers around 30 min. of projection time. While this is much too short for a full length feature film, this handheld projector definitely gets the job done when you need to make a short presentation, or give a demonstration while on the road. But, if necessary, this device does come with an adapter that can be plugged into a wall outlet to accommodate longer usage. Digital cameras, cellphones, and laptops will be able to take full advantage of the powerful capabilities this device delivers in such a compact, and sleek design. The MPro110 is a marvel of technology weighing a mere 5.4 ounces and fits neatly in your pocket.

In order to be able to get this gadget out to the public before the competition, 3M opted out of using miniature lasers to project an image, and instead focused on utilizing molded prizms with rounded edges to get decent image quality while keeping the size of this device down to that of a deck of playing cards. The MPro110 uses a one-watt LED bulb for the lamp’s projector, and is highly efficient in focusing the emitted light to project a quality image. The MPro110 displays video at a 640 by 480 resolution (standard definition TV quality / VGA), and costs around $350-$365US.

Media Center Remote Control is specially designed for windows media center and the windows 7 operating system, the latest in media center remote controls now offers flexible operations with most functions being activated by voice or buttons.

This remote is enabled with speech recognition technology. Speech Recognition Technology also known as automatic speech recognition or computer speech recognition, converts spoken words to text. With voice controlled remote, there are multiple speaker profiles selectable by voice for example say the command: ‘this is Smith’ and Smiths profile will load automatically. Advanced position sensing software will also isolate the voice of the speaker and ignore any concurrent conversations in the background.

Why use a Media Center Remote Control?

We can use this remote for a number of reasons, among which some of them are as follows:

•	Watch, record, control TV with the tuner.

•	Control, play and rip music.

•	Create, play and control slide show of the pictures.

•	Navigate using the text.

•	View DVD’s.

How it works?

We just have to pick the remote, and speak a command such as “Play Artist Beyonce”. The built in microphone transmits your voice to the software in your Windows Media Center. The remote includes advanced position sensing technology; it means that it will only listen to the voice when we talk to the remote and when we are chatting with friends and family, it didn’t listen to us. It means it understand the commands and ignores conversation.

Using this technique is as easy as playing with a toy. We can manage our records and we just have to say the command instead of searching a long list and can easily reach to the desired location. Like to browse the DVD library just say “Go To DVD’s” and even we can call out for a particular name and in the same way we can manage our pictures and music.

The above article is written by Venus Pareek. She is advising you about the voice recognition technology remote control. This remote control works on the command of voice and can make our life easy with this relaxing technology. It is media center remote which works on voice recognition technology.

SMS’s are quite an innovative way to keep in touch. What with the character limit and their ability to bring out creativity. A good night SMS is therefore expected to convey as much goodwill as the message would have had if it had not been transmitted over the airwaves. With the demand for creativity in SMS authorship then it becomes important to find a repository from which you can draw inspiration. With esteem being a valued quality in the human race, a bank of such literature is never lost anywhere that people choose to store them. The internet holds huge repositories of good night SMS messages. These are also supplied by individuals hosting independent SMS systems to which you can subscribe at the payment of a little charge deductible from your pre-paid airtime.

Good night sweet is constantly used in such SMS’s as are the confines of lovers and family members. For example, a relation may send one of their own a message of such kind to express the proximity with which they hold their esteem. This may also be expressed between friends and close acquaintances being source of such mirth and amusements on later occasions. With good night SMS’s one also learns to boost a friend’s fallen spirits assuring them of a better tomorrow since goodnight messages are used to instill hope after all.

Mentions of the eternal beyond do work well to portray poetry in the language of good night SMS messages amongst siblings and those who show a degree of love to each other. This is the form of interaction evident even confessed platonic relationships. But it becomes quite pronounced in relationships that strive towards commitment investing the trust in the recipient and confidence in the sender. Thus the purpose of a peaceful night’s sleep is served.

It is also quite the short hand for gestures with a lot of creativity going into the conception of such characters as would convey tenderness and happy instances for the benefit of the recipient. It would seem that the night messages is technology shaped to handle human psyche better.

Speech recognition software has been around for a while now, I tried one a few years ago that came with my new laptop and I was not very impressed. No matter how hard I tried it would always get at least 8/10 words wrong, so I stopped using it. I looked around for other ones to see if there was anything better out there but I didn’t find a thing that was worth using so I stopped looking.

Until recently I really had no need for speech recognition software but now that I’ve started writing articles I found that my typing skills or rather lack of, made it difficult for me to start typing or writing articles. The one finger typing just didn’t cut it. I found that I would dread the idea of starting a article, so I started my search for new speech recognition software.

Things you should look for in voice recognition software

Here are a few things you should look for in voice recognition software.

o Ease of use -You should look for software where the commands and menus are easy to use. You can have a great program that turns your speech into text with great accuracy but when you try and use the commands and menus that are difficult to use you will become very frustrated.

o Accuracy – When looking for voice recognition software you should try out a few different ones. You will find that not all software is alike, I tried out a few that drove me nuts, I couldn’t get what I was saying on the screen, it becomes very frustrating when you have to keep repeating the line to try and get it right. Accuracy is very important.

o Commands – A good voice recognition software will let you navigate your computer by voice. They will let you open and close other programs and use the features within them all by voice command.

o Dictation – a great test of a good voice recognition program is dictation. Look for a program that is good at recognizing speech and accurately transcribed the text.

o Features – so the features you should look for in voice recognition software are voice training, this lets a computer become familiar with your voice. Also features let you customize commands and support accent.

I find that when I’m using voice recognition software I write more like I’m having a conversation, it also gives my work a nice flow, this may be a result of not worrying about my spelling and because my typing is so slow and inaccurate I tend to take shortcuts and leave out words and sentences.

I think now I’m really going to enjoy writing my articles on my hobby which is collecting diecast cars, like NASCAR, Formula One, Indy Car, muscle cars, you get the picture.

There are several voice recognition software out on the market, after checking around I decided on Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred from Nuance Communications. In my opinion I believe that Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 is one of the best voice recognition software on the market right now. I suggest you do your diligence and research for the software that you prefer, prices can range anywhere from $20-$800 plus, so you need to choose on what suits your needs and budget.

I am so enjoying this software, I am going to be using this every chance I get. I hope you find this information helpful in your quest for finding a good voice recognition software.

You can see more on NASCAR diecast and you can browse for Special Edition NASCAR diecast cars for sale at bestnascardiecastcars.blogspot.com.

Nowadays, people always utilize the prepared power point to give a presentation. To make the speech livelier, the remote controller is widely accepted by them. There is no need to stand near the platform if the remote controller is used. Although the technology is not mature enough, more improvement will be made in the future.

The far infrared remote control technology was applied to the first generation of this device. The shortcoming of the far infrared device is the demand for accurate direction; therefore, the speaker should face toward the signal receiver. This kind of remote controller has gone out of use when the wireless radio frequency remote controller is invented. The advantages of this device are low power and environmental protection. Unlike the far infrared one, the wireless radio frequency is more convenient and practical, because it has no much requirement on direction. People can use this device in any place and with any gesture. But there are still some limitations, for instance, in order to control the device, a data connection must be established between the transmitting terminal and receiver.

The most essential thing for this device is the ability of anti-interference and stability. Therefore, many extra circuits are added to ensure the safety. Unlike the wireless intercom which can require the partner to say again, the remote controllers are always utilized in momentous occasions that may make a big mistake if the device is wrongly used.

In conclusion of the above contents, to choose a good device is very important. Some tips are provided for you to consider when you are planning to buy one. Firstly, you should carefully observe the appearance of the device. There are so many fakes in market that may similar with the genuine one. If you look carefully, some differences of the size or spray paint can also be found. Secondly, you can review the circuit by taking it apart. The quality of the circuit board has a large influence on the ability of anti-interference and compatibility. The selection of components related to the service life of the device. The components of genuine one are carefully studied, while the fakes utilize the cheap integrates to save cost. Thirdly, insert the receiver in the computer to see whether the contact is good or not. Then open several documents to see how many types of documents the device can control. Fourthly, test more than two devices to see whether they can disturb each other or not. The related circuit for the security system is TSS12G47S.

Companies that provide medical transcription services have an open door to a fast growing industry due to the increases in the demand for Health Care services. Despite the fact that there will be plenty of work out there for these companies, it is essential that they have voice recognition transcription software that will allow them to compete with other companies. The technology has drastically improved and the right software platform can mean the difference between outpacing the competitors and falling behind.

The right voice recognition transcription software is going to be easy for transcriptionists to learn and use. If adequate training products are offered this is the first step in allowing a company to outfit their medical transcriptionists with something that can increase production. Companies in the market for voice transcription software will be very aware of the fact that they do not get paid to train their employees so if the learning curve is short, this will make a big difference in the long run.

Different employees will have particular preferences in the way that they use software. Quality voice recognition transcription software is going to be able to provide transcriptionists with the ability to customize the settings and use keyboard shortcuts that will not only make them more efficient but reduce the kind of repetitive stress injuries that come from reliance on a mouse to navigate. They will also experience lower stress levels in terms of frustration that comes from the inability to navigate easily around a software platform.

The ability of a software platform to deliver documents or files to a client is also important. Not all clients are the same, and they are going to have different requirements in terms of deliverables. If the voice recognition transcription software needs to be adapted each time a different client has the need for information to be delivered in a different format, this not only means lost time but it can result in lost clients. It is much easier for a company to get a software platform that has adaptability and can deliver an end product through fax or any other kind of document format that a client’s system requires.

There are a number of different varieties of speech recognition technology that have come out on the market recently. Simple speech recognition will fall substantially short when it comes to doing medical transcription. A software suite must have the appropriate medical vocabulary to do error checking and not leave the transcriptionist with the bulk of the work when it comes to reducing abnormalities in the data. Voice recognition transcription software must be effective when it comes to the conversion of speech to data but it has to do much more as well.

Companies that want to compete in the industry must look for voice recognition transcription software that will provide for effective workflow. This is something that may often be overlooked by companies that are in the market for transcription software. Too much emphasis might be put on the usability and if a company can find a software platform that is not only usable but will assist with payroll and work distribution it will realize the benefits for years to come.

Reports can now be delivered more accurately and in less time.
